SABIS® SUN Stars
On April 22 and 23, 2016, SABIS® SUN International School ─ Baku students joined over 600 students from 28 SABIS® Network schools in Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Kurdistan, K.S.A., Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Romania, and the U.A.E. for the 2016 SLO® Talent & Academic Regionals (SABIS® STARS) competition which took place in Dubai, U.A.E. SABIS® STARS is a biennial competition which brings together students from across the global SABIS® Network to showcase their academic acumen, innovation, and talent.
Having just opened its doors in September 2015, the SABIS® SUN International School ─ Baku took on the challenge and had a team ready by April 2016 to participate in the SABIS® STARS event. Grade 8 students participated in the Science Fair competition and presented their project entitled “Effects of Cigarette Toxins on Seed Germination”, a topic which is considered one of the biggest ongoing health problems. The students were commended for their display of detailed scientific evidence, professional appearance, and live experiments. Their accomplishment was realized when they came in second place among 40 other projected presented at the Science Fair competition!
